NSA Canada Peterborough Week Nights League
Rosters
The final rosters for each team are due July 15th no players added after for any reasons please be sure to have extras on there. Players can only play on one team in Men’s Ladies co-ed wood co-ed comp in playoffs.
Playoffs
Only players on final roster can play in playoffs games. The number of played games does not matter as once on this roster you are approved for league play.
All Players
Teams may borrow players in the regular season to avoid defaults. This must NOT put your team over ten players doing so results in a default.
Players (Coed)
Defense in co-ed is 6/4. Bat any number you want so long as there are never more than 2 males in a row (co-ed). Teams need 8 players minimum to play 6-2. The third female is an automatic out. The other team will supply a catcher. Teams can also play 6-3 with no auto out.
Players (Men’s teams and Ladies teams)
Men’s teams and ladies teams can play with 8 or 9 players without an automatic out. If you are using 8 players, the other team is to supply a catcher.
Game Times
A complete game is after the 1st pitch of the 4th inning or 40 minutes of play. Games will be an hour and 15 minutes. No new innings after an hour and five minutes. The game will be dead at an hour and 15 minutes. The score will revert to last inning if the inning is not completed, unless the 9: 45-game dead time is 10:55 as lights go out at 11.
Late Players
Late players can de added to the bottom of the batting order up until the 1st pitch of the 4th inning.
Injured Player
If a player is injured, they can be removed with no penalty. Once removed they cannot re-enter. If ejected the spot becomes an automatic out.
Runners
Runners from the fence are allowed but they must be playing 1st, 3rd, pitcher, catcher, or DH and they must be declared at the start of the game with the umpire. The runner must be last out of the same gender. If they are not available, then it goes to the previous out. Once the runner reaches the base, they can get a courtesy runner. The Runner cannot leave until there is contact with ball or the batter is out. Base runners are allowed an anticipation (swing / ball hits ground or crossed the plate).
The grace period is 5 minutes. After that it is a default grace and can only be used if the team has less then 8 players.
In playoffs zero grace period
Teams can use an unlimited number of courtesy runners but cannot put a runner in for a runner or it is an out.
On play at one runner must only touch orange and the defender must only touch white. If the defender touches orange runner is safe if the runner touches white the runner is out.
Home Run Rule.
The home run rule is plus 2 after that it is an out. This means teams can never have more than 2 home runs over opponents. (Hit and sit)
Runs
There is a five run maximum per inning. The last inning is open for all divisions. Mercy rule is 12 runs after 5 innings.
Pitching
Pitching height is 6-10 feet. Pitching distance is 50 to 60 feet bases are 70 feet. No 5-man infield in co-ed. Men’s and ladies teams are allowed.
A pitcher is to get 5 warmups to start the game and a max of 3 between innings. Legal pitch shall consist of Before pitching the ball, the pitcher must take a position:
1) with both feet firmly on the ground and with one or both feet in contact with the pitcher’s plate or the pitching chute.
2) The front of the body must face the batter.
3) Must come to a full and complete stop with the ball held in one or both hands in front of the body.
4) This position must be held for not less than one second and not more than 5 seconds before starting the delivery.
- a) The pitcher must not make any motion to pitch without immediately delivering the ball to the batter.
- b) The windup must be a continuous motion.
- c) The pitcher must not use a windup in which there is a stop or reversal of the forward motion.
- d) The pitcher must deliver the ball toward home plate on the first forward swing of the pitching arm past the hip ( 6 inches) with an underhanded motion.
- e) The pitcher shall not pitch the ball 1. Behind the back, or 2. Through the legs, or 3. From the glove.
- f) The pivot foot must remain in contact with the pitcher’s plate or on the ground where the pitcher established their start in the pitching chute until the pitched ball leaves the hand. If a step is taken, it can be forward, backward, or to the side, provided the step is simultaneous with the release of the ball and the pivot foot is still in contact with the pitcher’s plate or ground.
- g) The pitch shall be released at a moderate speed. The speed is left entirely up to the judgment of the umpire.
- h) The pitcher must not continue to wind up after the ball is released.
- i) The ball must be delivered with a perceptible arc of at least (6 ft.) and not more than (10 ft.) from the ground.
In co-ed pitcher / catcher combo can be any combination.
In co-ed any walked male with female behind gets second FEMALE MUST HIT.
Specific Plays
Players cannot throw anyone out from the outfield on a hit at first. ( all divisions). The result is a triple. Relay is NOT allowed.
Fouls
Runners can tag of third strike foul. Any foul tick caught is an out.
Commitment Line
Commit line is in effect. Cannot tag between the commit line and home once a runner crosses the line. They cannot go back, or they are out.
Sliding
Sliding is allowed at home.
Ejections
Any player ejected will automatically get the next game. If same player is ejected a second time in the same year, they could face league suspension with no refund. When ejected a player is to leave the park immediately not doing so or causing a further disturbance will result in the game being forfeited. Any verbal abuse of an NSA official could also result in suspensions from all NSA Canada play.
Umpires
Home team is responsible for paying umpires before the game. Please do not make the umpire ask for the fee. Home team is responsible for giving the umpire a game ball. Visitors are responsible for the back up ball. In the event of a default, the defaulting team is responsible. Just like in academics, where planning ahead—such as choosing to facharbeit schreiben lassen—can ensure smooth execution, organizing game logistics in advance is key.

No metal cleats in any division result is an ejection. The new bases will be destroyed by metals.
Scores
Scores are to be texted to 416 786 3916 within 24 hours of the game. If this is not done in time game will be considered a tie. We will not chase teams for scores. Any games recorded as a tie for this reason will remain permanent after 24 hours and will not be adjusted.
Rainouts
Rainouts will be posted on the Facebook group and our web site soon as confirmed. We will
make every attempt to reschedule rainouts however if there are to many and it results in the
season being pushed into October they unfortunately will not be made up.
Bats
In the wood bat division only wood softball bats will be legal.
In the composite division only composite bats will be legal.
NSA legal bats will be allowed. Only bats with league stickers will be legal in our league.
Playoffs
Playoffs will be double knock out format. Higher seed will be home team in all games.
Players waivers
Players waivers can be found on the NSA website.
There is to be no alcohol at the diamonds period. Being seen with it will result in an instant ejection
